Transportation in Cabo

The City of Cabo San Lucas is actually the largest there is in the whole municipality of Los Cabos, Baja California. In the entire peninsula of Baja, Cabo San Lucas or Cabo for short is the second largest city, next only to the large community of La Paz which is also in Baja California Sur. Thus, many vacationers and tourists might worry about getting around Cabo since the city is so large and the place is sure to be unfamiliar to those who have never been to Cabo. Fortunately, there are plenty of means of transportation in Cabo San Lucas which would ensure that vacationers, tourists and travelers can easily get around the city as they please.

There are several ways of getting to Cabo. One can either come by air, sea or land. Planes and cruise ships aplenty come and go to this popular vacation destination everyday. There are also many people who drive all the way from the international border separating Tijuana in Baja from San Diego, California or else take tour buses that travel the length of the peninsula. Getting to Cabo is not a very big worry, the problems most vacationers think about is how they are suppose to get around Cabo once they are there since being a tourist entails that you may be quite unfamiliar with local roads, public transportation and the usual transportation fares.

Tourists and vacationers may opt to take the airport shuttles which are found conveniently at the airport in Cabo San Lucas so they can easily travel to and from the airport. After going through the usual routine of getting off a place and going through customs, claiming your baggages and all that, Cabo visitors can just head down to the booth near the exit of the airport to get information regarding the Cabo airport buses and shuttles. When satisfied with the information given to you which includes the destination, rates and length of travel, you can get on the shuttles and head out to you hotel or wherever it is you are planning to stay at Cabo San Lucas.

Taxis are also available in Cabo and are relatively more convenient compared to shuttles and buses since you need not share the same cab with anyone else if you do not want to. However, tourists should know that is some places, it is normal for people to share cab rides and Cabo is one of these places.

Of course, having your own car is very much convenient when touring the city and getting around from one tourist destination to the other while in Cabo. There are several car rental companies found in Cabo San Lucas, many of which can be found in and around the airport and harbor or else near travel agencies and commercial areas. You can also ask the hotel you are staying in if they have rental cars or if they can arrange one for you along with a driver. Rental car insurances are also available in Cabo and it is advisable that you get one for the rental car you would be using during the length of your stay.
